Child Bipolar: What is Pediatric Bipolar Disorder?

What exactly is pediatric bipolar disorder? It is a form of bipolar disorder with a childhood onset, however the presentation, symptoms and behaviors are not necessarily the same as those typically seen in adults with forms of bipolar disorder. However, it can be difficult to differentiate or tell the difference between other childhood problems like ADHD, ODD and Conduct Disorder and bipolar disorder, as well as situational issues which may be creating problems for a child. The DSM-V task force, for example, is working on ways of expressing these differences for the next edition of the DSM.
